The Origin Story: Born in the Smoke, Built for the Hustle

Hi, I’m Jessica Robinson.

If you’re looking for a 12-step hair care routine or a lecture on split ends, you’re in the wrong place. I’m not a hair expert. I’m an experimenter, a corporate leader, a podcast host, and, now, an entrepreneur. 

The "Aha!" Moment

Fresh Set Hair wasn't born in a lab; it was born on the banks of Michigan lakesides.

I love the outdoors. I’d choose a craft beer with locals at a dive bar over a big Caribbean resort any day of the week. But I realized that while my soul loved the scent of a wood-burning fire, my hair… lingered. I thought dry shampoo was the solution but it only masked the smells I was trying to hide. The odors still lingered, just with a texture and some sort of aerosol fragrance along with it.

I searched for a travel-friendly, quick-fix way to get that "campfire hangover" out of my hair without a full shower. When I couldn't find it, I created it.

One Bottle. A Million Transitions.

What started as a camping hack quickly became my "secret weapon" for the rest of my life. Once I found I had a solution to unwanted odors, I could see that they were everywhere:

  • The Plane-to-Podium Pivot: Taking the stale air of a cross-country flight straight into a high-stakes business meeting.

  • The Fragrant Foodie: Loving the spicy curry, but not loving smelling like them for the next six hours.

  • The Daily Grind: Keeping it fresh between when I need to squeeze a run in after a work meeting and running kids to gymnastics class.

Why I Do This

I’m a big believer in the power of shopping small. I’m passionate about building local economies that actually work, which is why Fresh Set isn’t just a product, it’s a contribution to the community of doers and makers. 

Every purchase of Fresh Set stays as local as possible. Ingredients and supplies are sourced within the USA. 

I’m curious by nature and adventurous by choice. Whether I’m navigating a corporate boardroom or a trail in Northern Michigan, I want to show up as the best version of myself.
